Bible Stories by Jacob Fortin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is the first of 3 volumes of a re-interpretation of The Bible in a modern skeptical light. It is delightfully humorous and often thought-provoking. Jacob Fortin, for example throws in phrases that essentially point out that the omniscient super-being was upset with the way things turned out. If you don't see the irony there, you are truly indoctrinated. Jacob fearlessly calls it like The Bible actually says it - incest, genocide, killing of innocent animals, women, children and men as well as confusion, deceit, moodiness and stark-raving craziness of God Almighty Himself. He has modernized the language so that if the same thing described in The Bible happened today, you get a better sense of how people who respond to it.
While the writing is very good, there could have been more care in editing as there are syntax and grammatical errors about every 10 pages or so.
I'm looking forward to the next two volumes.
